Hope's Nose and view into Torbay, 2001. The hard Devonian Limestone headland extends into deep water and forms an absolute boundary to shoreline sediment transport. It also provides shelter to the whole of Tor Bay against waves from the north and partial shelter against waves from the north-east. Raised beach platforms and associated sediments are evident at Hope's Nose (to right), and on Thatcher Rock 9 (to left), at between 8 and 12m OD
