Seawall Protection: Wheelers Bay to Bonchurch, 1999. Constructed in 1988, comprising some 6,000 cubic metres of concrete and costing £1.4million, the seawall extends along 1km of shoreline providing full protection against wave attack to the cliff toe. Protection of the sea cliffs is vital in maintaining the stability of this eastern portion of the Undercliff occupied by the town of Ventnor.
