Photo 13 (Return) Groynes and rock armour downdrift (west) of the timber revetment and The Inn on the Beach, Hayling Island 2003. The defences were constructed to reduce terminal scour caused by interception of drift by the Inn on the Beach defences and the timber revetment. They have protected the golf course frontage from erosion. Note the change in shoreline orientation in the distance associated with accretion of a series of gravel ridges at Gunner Point. |
