The Hinge, East Head Spit, 2000. The neck of the spit at this point has eroded and narrowed considerably in width since the 1970s such that there is now a risk of breaching. Note the eroding front migrating back into more mature dune deposits. In 1999, rock armour was inserted within the dunes behind the eroding front in order to avert the risk of a beach.
