Downdrift of eastern extremity of Barton cliff stabilisation, 1995. Rapid terminal erosion of the soft Becton Sand has resulted in loss of a 40-50m width of the cliff top since the Barton defences were constructed, representing a doubling of the previous rate of recession. Sand and some gravels are supplied from the cliffs. Note that interception of drift by the Becton outfall has produced accretion updrift and a "setback" downdrift
