Peacehaven defences 2001. A robust seawall and promenade has been constructed in 1982 to protect the toe and the cliff face has been re-profiled to remove weathered material that could fall onto the promenade. Groynes have been installed at intervals to maintain beaches, but are only partly effective due to a shortage of gravel resulting from cliff protection updrift (to the west ) that has halted natural inputs of flints from cliff erosion. Replenishment has been practised in places to restore beaches.
